Did the Reformation contribute to the idea of a global economic order?
Experts engaged in discussions about the global system assert that the beliefs held initially by the Reformers have significantly influenced the concept of a global socio-economic system. They explain that when Western Christianity wielded religious power in Europe, the clergy taught that anyone who obtained forgiveness for their sins would go to heaven, regardless of how they achieved that forgiveness. However, Reformist theology introduced the idea that not everyone would go to heaven; only the elect would attain the privilege of heaven.
This claim raised important questions among Christians: How can one know if they are among the elect? The answer was that individuals are elected if they receive God’s blessings. This answer prompts a further question: How can one be certain they have God’s blessings? The response given was that people can know God blesses them if they possess material wealth. Historically, blessings and material possessions were often seen as signs of divine favor, especially in the context of the Biblical Old Covenant.
Those who embraced the reasoning outlined above asked, “What can we do to ensure that as many people as possible attain material possessions and, consequently, are blessed, chosen, and destined for heaven?” In response, advocates of peace and prosperity promoted the economic system known as Mercantilism in Europe. However, various wars and imperial ambitions obstructed the implementation of this system. Eventually, the enthusiastic supporters of this idea left Europe and migrated to the thirteen British colonies in North America. There, they persuaded the citizens of the colonies to establish the United States of America (USA). The primary objective of the newly formed USA was to refine the proposed economic system to suit a global economy and commerce. The proponents believed that “God had chosen the USA to lead the world into peace and economic prosperity.” Mercantilism eventually evolved into a demand-and-supply economy in the USA. By the 1980s, the economy of scale began to replace the demand-and-supply economy. Today, the economy of scale operates in the USA, and the plan is to make it the dominant global economy soon.
The realization of a single global economy and free trade is currently in progress. This initiative aims to facilitate the practical integration of free and sovereign countries worldwide. The commitment to this goal is both deep-rooted and steadfast. What you read in this blog is not merely a theory or a baseless conclusion. The formation of a new global system, referred to as the “One World,” is advancing steadily, even if it has gone unnoticed. Its development is both evident and significant.
In the author’s view, the commitment to this new and unprecedented global order is driven by perceived practicality, a fundamental desire for survival and prosperity, and a certain level of human ignorance. Nevertheless, God is fulfilling His words as written in the Book of Revelation. God has a plan for humanity, and nothing can hinder or thwart it. Those who are faithful can be assured of this and need not fear. Michael, the great Prince, will protect His people, as stated in Daniel 12:1.
